KAI CULT - Melb Based ADHD Hyperpunk Project Drops Midnight Sky Single

Kai Cult Ignites the Electro-Punk Scene with “Midnight Sky”

Kai Cult – the self-proclaimed ADHD hyperpunk project of Louis Fuji, dropped a new single “Midnight Sky” – earlier today. Arguably, a short EP, “Midnight Sky” is made up of three jam-packed electropunk party tracks showcasing Kai’s diverse writing – both as a songwriter and performer.

The first track, “Rave Stabz”, is a headspinning whirlwind trip, if that trip summed up a story of losing yourself in the claustrophobic mess of a Defcon gig. The second and title track, “Midnight Sky” starts off as an atmospheric ballad fuelled with Switchkicker-level nostalgia (remember that guy?), ascending into the type of party banger you want to piss off your parents to. Finally, after a mere 3-and-a-half minutes and two tracks, “Dying to Find Out” explores just how far Kai Cult can push the atmospheric electro-punk ethos into a moody anti-depressant.

While earlier songs felt like The Prodigy rapped-the-fuck out of early Spineshank, Kai Cult’s “Midnight Sky” single is positioning Kai to be a serious contender in the electro-punk and alternative scenes. Clocking in at less than 10 minutes and, having more in common with groups like Regurgitator and Ho99o9, I’d recommend joining the other 3000+ followers on his spotify.
