Skindred Ignite a New Era of Positivity and Power with “You Got This”
Welsh ragga metal icons Skindred have unleashed their latest anthem, “You Got This” – a high-octane burst of positive aggression backed by a video that captures everything fans love about the band: chaos, charisma, and colossal grooves.
The single is the title track from their ninth studio album, set to drop April 17th via Earache Records. From the first riff, it’s unmistakably Skindred – Mikey Demus delivers the kind of distorted punch that rattles skulls, while Arya Goggin pounds the kit like a demolition crew. And then there’s Benji Webbe, still the ultimate showman, flipping between sharp-edged verses and stadium-sized choruses like a man possessed.
Finding Strength in Struggle
The track’s inspiration hits on something deeply human. Benji, a regular at the gym, witnessed a man pushing through the pain of stroke rehabilitation. When the trainer told him, “You got this,” everything changed. That simple encouragement became the seed for a song about resilience and the battles everyone faces – physical, mental, emotional.
“It’s such an empowering statement,” Benji says. “It could be recovery from a stroke or studying for exams. For me, songs that lift people up – that’s what I’m here to do.”
That message runs through every beat and bar. Skindred aren’t just writing music; they’re bottling adrenaline and hope. Benji’s voice roars with purpose – part life coach, part punk prophet – reminding listeners that even when life knocks you down, there’s still fire left to burn.
The Road to “You Got This”
This new album follows the monster success of 2023’s Smile, which landed at #2 on the UK Official Album Chart and earned Skindred a MOBO Award for Best Alternative Music Act and Best UK Act at the Heavy Music Awards. Off the back of that, they conquered Wembley Arena, tore through international tours, and converted a new wave of fans who’ve discovered what die-hards have known for decades – Skindred are one of the best live bands on the planet.
On You Got This, the now-trio double down on everything that defines them: explosive riffs, genre-bending grooves, and dancehall swagger that dares you not to move. It’s the sound of a band comfortable in their chaos – tight, unrelenting, and impossible to ignore.

Production duties went to Grammy-winner Jay Ruston, whose range – from working with Slipknot’s Corey Taylor to Desmond Child – mirrors Skindred’s own genre-defying DNA. Drummer Arya sums it up best:
“He didn’t stay in one lane – and that’s exactly what Skindred has always been about.”
Skindred are Still Hungry, Still Fighting
Despite the accolades, the band isn’t slowing down. Arya’s noticed a new generation joining the pit – teenagers standing shoulder-to-shoulder with parents who’ve been there since Babylon. Benji dreams big: Coachella, Glastonbury, wherever there’s a crowd ready to lose their minds. But Mikey Demus keeps it grounded:
“We didn’t make Wembley happen – the fans did. There’s still so many people who’ve never heard us. That’s the fight ahead.”
And that’s Skindred in 2025 — still charging forward, still defiant, still built on the belief that no matter how hard it gets, You Got This.
