INTERNET ROMANCE Announce New Single 'My Dog's A Liar' and Fitzroy Show

INTERNET ROMANCE Announce New Single ‘My Dog’s A Liar’ to be Road-Tested on January 16th

There’s something beautifully unhinged about a band naming their debut single after an untrustworthy dog. Melbourne’s INTERNET ROMANCE aren’t here to make sense – they’re here to make noise, and My Dog’s A Liar is their gloriously chaotic introduction to anyone who’ll listen.

Dropping January 12th on all streaming platforms, this explosive heavy-rock/punk track does exactly what it says on the tin: it’s about a dog who lies. What those lies are, we can only speculate, but the four-piece deliver the accusation with the kind of sneering conviction usually reserved for ex-lovers and dodgy landlords. The drums hit like a sledgehammer to the kneecaps, the bass rumbles thick enough to feel in your chest cavity, and guitars slice through the mix with surgical precision. Vocals oscillate between sneer and snarl – sometimes within the same breath – while the band’s deadpan humour collides head-on with absurdist storytelling.

Recorded and produced by Callan Orr at Avalanche Studios (a name that should ring bells for anyone paying attention to Melbourne’s heavier underground), My Dog’s A Liar captures the raw, caffeinated energy of a band who’ve spent spring 2025 terrorizing Melbourne venues with their live shows. The Evelyn Hotel, Bendigo Hotel, Bad Decisions Bar, Creatures Bar – INTERNET ROMANCE have been cutting their teeth on the city’s circuit, building a reputation for the kind of sweaty, chaotic performances that leave both band and audience questioning their life choices (in the best way).

Their song writing leans heavily into post-punk’s angular energy, with punchy lines and repeating motifs that burrow into your brain and set up camp. There’s an undercurrent of dark humour running through everything – the kind that makes you laugh uncomfortably before realizing you’re nodding your head to a song about canine deception.

The band aren’t stopping at one single, either. 2026 is shaping up to be a busy year: a follow-up single is already in the works, along with music videos, regional shows, more Melbourne dates, and the release of their debut EP. For a band just officially arriving, INTERNET ROMANCE are moving with the confidence of a group who know exactly what they’re doing (even if what they’re doing involves accusing pets of dishonesty).

The single gets its proper christening at The Workers Club in Fitzroy on Friday, January 16th, 2026 – INTERNET ROMANCE‘s first headline show. It’s a stacked bill: Serious Crew, The Toranas, and Lipstick Grenade are all joining the party, which promises to be the kind of sweat-soaked, beer-sticky night that reminds you why Melbourne’s underground scene still matters.

My Dog’s A Liar drops Monday, January 12th. Catch the single launch at The Workers Club, Fitzroy, on Friday, January 16th, 2026.
