Maple’s Pet Dinosaur: From Ring-Cam Rookie to Festival-Stage Phenomenon

Maple’s Pet Dinosaur From Ring-Cam Rookie to Festival-Stage Phenomenon

Maple’s Pet Dinosaur heads for Good Things ’25

What a difference a few months makes. Just fourteen weeks ago, Maple’s Pet Dinosaur was a 14-year-old singer from Newcastle hoping to release her debut single lego independently and maybe – just maybe – convince a local promoter to give her teen band a crack at a stage slot.

Today, that story reads like ancient history.

The DIY Video That Broke the Internet

lego didn’t just “do well” – it blew the algorithm to pieces. Shot entirely on a Ring doorbell camera, the lo-fi clip became an overnight viral eruption, amassing 55 million+ views on Instagram and becoming the most-viewed Instagram Reel in history by an Australian-born artist. Its impact kicked off a global trend, inspiring garage bands everywhere to dust off their doorbells and follow suit.

Momentum didn’t stop at Instagram. The full-length video shot to 1.1 million YouTube views, with another 6 million rolling in via TikTok.

Not bad for a debut single recorded by a teenager who had just turned 15.

From Viral Feed to Festival Stages

As Maple’s online buzz mutated into a full-blown movement, it reached the right ears. Good Things Festival promoter Chris O’Brien broke the event’s strict 16+ age limit to add Maple’s Pet Dinosaur to a lineup alongside TOOL, Weezer, and Garbage – declaring, “Maple is going to be an absolute force.”

Soon after, SXSW Sydney came calling. Maple and her powerhouse teen band tore through two back-to-back showcases, igniting industry hype and winning over crowds who had no idea a 15-year-old could level a room like that.

Media, Radio, and a Growing Global Tribe

The whirlwind attention hasn’t slowed. Maple’s Pet Dinosaur has been spotlighted by Rolling Stone, covered on Brazilian television, added to triple j Unearthed, spun multiple times across triple j proper, and embraced nationally on the Triple M network. In the US, college radio has picked up the track and run with it.

Maple’s fanbase now includes Fred Durst, who casually dropped “let’s get the tour convo going” in the lego comments. September also saw Maple sign with New World Artists for exclusive live representation across Australia and New Zealand – a major career milestone for any rising act, let alone one still in high school.

The Big Question: What’s Next?

As Maple’s follower count skyrockets, her comment section has become a wall of one persistent question:

When’s the next song?

The answer: chorusMaple’s Pet Dinosaur’s brand-new single, dropping November 27, perfectly timed ahead of their Good Things Festival run in early December.

A relatable, addictive follow-up, chorus is, in Maple’s own words, “an ode to a love story gone wrong.”

Another Viral Ignite: The chorus Teaser

The teaser clip for chorus has already blown up with 1.3 million views on Instagram in under four days – proving the hype isn’t fading anytime soon.

A Bigger, Heavier Evolution

chorus is a little more dimensional than lego,” Maple shares. “While lego is a two-minute blast of rage, chorus is more melodic – but also heavier at the same time. The outro gives a good taste of our live energy, and I finally got to rattle off some of my favourite dinosaurs.”

Mixed by Declan White (Thornhill, Ocean Grove), the track crashes in with a scorching guitar riff beneath Maple’s soaring vocals. The hook is engineered for festival yell-alongs and an infectious background.

Catch Maple’s Pet Dinosaur Live

Fans can catch Maple’s Pet Dinosaur onstage this December at Good Things Festival, with 2026 already heating up: the band is locked in for BASSINTHEGRASS on Saturday, 16 May 2026, the Northern Territory’s biggest festival.

The world is now watching this future headliner.
