Swedish Death Metal Legends VOMITORY Announce New Album In Death Throes, Out April 10 via Metal Blade Records – Plus New Single ‘For Gore And Country’ Is Out Now
If your death metal knowledge doesn’t include Vomitory, we need to have a serious conversation. The Swedish bruisers have been a cornerstone of the genre since forming in 1989, unleashing eight ferocious albums between 1996 and 2011 before calling it a day in 2013. Thankfully, retirement didn’t stick – they roared back to the stage in 2019 for their 30th anniversary and haven’t looked back since.
Three years on from their critically lauded comeback record All Heads Are Gonna Roll, Vomitory are here to remind you that they are absolutely not messing around. Their new album In Death Throes drops April 10th via Metal Blade Records, and if the first single is anything to go by, it is going to be an absolute monster.
Drummer Tobias Gustafsson gives us the rundown on what to expect:
“In Death Throes picks up where All Heads Are Gonna Roll left off, but we’ve turned the intensity up a notch. [New guitarist] Christian [Fredriksson] quickly found his place and even contributed music to four killer tracks. These additions bring a bit of diversity to our sound without straying too far from the formula.”
So, more intense than before, with some fresh blood injected into the mix? Yes please.
The album was tracked across a couple of Karlstad studios in late 2025. Drums and vocals were captured at Leon Music Studios with returning producer Rikard Löfgren (who previously handled Terrorize Brutalize Sodomize, Carnage Euphoria, and Opus Mortis VIII), while guitars and bass were laid down at Goff Studios with new guitarist Christian Fredriksson behind the engineering desk.
Mixing and mastering duties went to Lawrence Mackrory at Rorysound Studios in Uppsala – the same man responsible for the sonics on records by Paradise Lost, Bloodbath, and Lik – and by all accounts he’s delivered something crushingly heavy that still manages to breathe. Artwork once again comes courtesy of Giannis Nakos of Remedy Art Design, whose previous clients include Evergrey, Suffocation, and The Crown. In short: this record has been assembled by people who know exactly what they’re doing.
And then there’s the first single, ‘For Gore And Country’, which is out right now and does not waste a single second of your time. Gustafsson describes it best:
“‘For Gore and Country’ charges forward relentlessly just like the rotting hordes in the lyrics do. Starting off with a classic VOMITORY grind, then diving headfirst into a total headbanging party, to then take off again into grind and D-beat turmoil. Oh wait! Another headbanging party towards the end of the song! For gore and country, we endure!”
That level of enthusiasm from the man behind the kit tells you everything you need to know. Go watch the video over at metalblade.com/vomitory and try not to snap your neck.
