W.E.B. Just Dropped a Live Video That’ll Ruin Your Day (In the Best Possible Way)

W.E.B. are back with a Vengeance

If you’ve never had the pleasure of experiencing Greek symphonic extreme metal outfit W.E.B. pummel a crowd into submission, then “Morphine For Saints” is about to do something funny to your brain chemistry.

The band just dropped a live performance video for the track, pulled from their brand new live album Darkness Alive, which is out now on Metal Blade Records. And honestly? It’s exactly what it sounds like – walls of death, crowds chanting, the whole beautiful chaos.

Vocalist and guitarist Sakis Prekas puts it best himself:

”‘Morphine For Saints’ is that one song that has become a fan favorite since the beginning and for sure it is one of the peak moments of every concert we give since it always begins with a wall of death and a crowd chanting alone in the middle. It is probably the song that establishes the perfect connection between W.E.B. and every audience!”

Yeah. That tracks.

Watch ‘Morphine for Saints’ and see for yourself.

W.E.B. – ‘Morphine for Saints’ (Live @ Gagarin)

Darkness Alive captures W.E.B. at what feels like a pivotal moment – the lineup featured on the recording includes Prekas, Hel Pyre on bass and vocals, and newly joined drummer Vasilis Nanos. Since then the band has expanded further, adding lead guitarist Alex Despotidis and second bassist Babis Kapageridis to flesh things out even more. Which is both exciting and slightly terrifying, because they were already plenty heavy.

This is the band’s first ever live record, and it follows five studio albums including Colosseum (2021), their debut on Metal Blade. If their reputation for “drama, extremity and bloodthirst in equal parts” means anything to you, this one was made for your ears.

The full tracklist runs nine songs deep:

Crimson Dawn / Pentalpha / Dark Web / Into Hell Fire We Burn / Murder Of Crows / Necrology / Morphine For Saints / Dragona / Eligos

Oh, and if that wasn’t enough to get you hyped – W.E.B. are already working on new material for a full-length follow-up. Prekas isn’t being coy about it either:

“It is by far the best material we’ve ever had on a record.”

Darkness Alive is available now over at Metal Blade Records.
